Description: Officer Carlin was in pursuit of a robber when a local man, hearing the noise of the chase, fired two shots toward Carlin believing him to be the burglar. Officer Carlin was shot in the front abdomen and in the right side of his lower chest; his intestinal artery was severed. Officer Carlin was taken to St. John's Hospital where he died six days later.
