Description: Deputy Sheriffs Coleman and Peter Jones were attacked as they waited for transport to take their suspect to the county jail. Deputy Coleman was beaten with a club and brass knuckles by the brothers of the suspect in custody. Deputy Coleman died four days later of his injuries. Deputy Jones survived. Three suspects were convicted of murder. Two suspects received life sentences and the third suspect received a 20 year sentence.
