Description: Officer Cardillo was shot in the chest when he responded to an "officer in distress" call, a call which was later determined to be false. Officer Cardillo and his partner, Vito Navarra, responded to the mosque where they were attacked and beaten. Officers Victor Padilla and Ivan Negron were also injured in this incident but survived. Officer Cardillo died six days later.
