Description: Patrolman Choate was shot as he and Chief Lummus accompanied a robbery suspect to a location where he claimed stolen goods were hidden. Without warning, the suspect pulled a concealed weapon and shot Patrolman Choate in the abdomen six times. Patrolman Choate was transported to the hospital where he died. The suspect was lynched by an angry mob.
