Description: City Marshal Cloy was shot when he went to a hotel to collect a privilege license fee. The owner of the hotel was argumentative, retrieved a rifle and shot Marshal Cloy in the back. Marshal Cloy died of his injuries several hours later. His assailant was convicted of murder and was hung from the gallows.
