Description: Deputy Sheriff Coleman was shot as he attempted to keep the peace during the local election. Deputy Coleman was insulted by a man whom he had arrested previously for gambling. The man retrieved a pistol and fired at Deputy Coleman who returned fire. Deputy Coleman sustained two gunshot wounds to the torso and died the next day. His assailant was mortally wounded and died several days later.
