Description: Deputy Crain and Deputy Wiley Pierce were about to arrest two men suspected of moonshining when one of the men produced a concealed gun and began shooting. Deputy Crain returned fire but was fatally shot four times in the back, chest and leg. Deputy Pierce was also shot and bludgeoned to death. The shooter hid Deputy Crain's body under the carcass of a cow and buried Deputy Pierce in a swamp.
