Description: Deputy Combs was slashed across the throat with a knife by a robbery suspect. Deputies Combs and Ben Stokes were called by a hotel manager regarding the theft of linen. Two men suspected of the crime were arrested by Deputy Stokes. Deputy Combs located a third man and asked for identification. The man drew a knife and slashed Deputy Combs across the throat. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
