Description: U.S. Coast Guardsmen Chism, Christopher Fererbey, Michael Moss and William Simpson were on a drug surveillance mission when a large wave caused their small boat to capsize. The four guardsmen were separated from their vessel and remained in 36-degree water for 4.5 hours before being rescued. Guardsmen Chism and Christopher Ferreby died shortly after arrival at Mount St Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, New York. Guardsmen Michael Moss and William Simpson suffered from hypothermia and recovered from their injuries.
