Description: Night Watchmen Cummins and William Grant were severely beaten as they attempted to arrest an intoxicated man for disturbing the peace. When the officers entered the residence where a party was in progress, someone turned off the lights and attacked the officers. The officers received medical treatment for their wounds and went home. The next morning, Night Watchman Cummins was found dead at his home of a fractured skull.
