Description: Sergeant Callies and a second officer were stabbed after they responded to a domestic disturbance call where a man had attacked a woman. As the officers searched the residence for the suspect, they were accosted the dark stairway and stabbed multiple times. The officers were transported to the hospital where Sergeant Callies died several hours later. The second officer survived his injuries. The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
