Description: Correctional Officer Cooper died from complications during a corrective surgery he underwent to repair an injury sustained while struggling with a juvenile inmate on January 25, 2010. Officer Cooper tore his rotator cuff as he subdued an inmate who was attempting to escape. While under anesthesia for the surgery, Officer Cooper slipped into a coma. He never regained consciousness and died the next day.
