Description: Guard Carr was shot after he finished the evening meal at the convict camp and went to bed. A prisoner gained possession of a shotgun and shot Guard Carr in the head as he slept. The prisoner was captured, convicted of murder and sentenced to be hanged. The sentence was later commuted to life in prison.
