Description: Constable Campbell and Chief Percy Boyd went to investigate a citizen?s tip concerning a suspicious vehicle with guns visible. As the officers approached the car the fugitives, Bonnie and Clyde, began firing at them. Constable Campbell was killed and Chief Boyd was wounded. The fugitives kidnapped Chief Boyd and released him the next day in Fort Scott, Kansas. The third member of the gang, Henry Methvin, received a life sentence for the murder of Constable Campbell. The Bonnie and Clyde gang was responsible for the deaths of eight other officers between 1932 and 1934: Joe Crowson, Deputy Malcolm Davis, Constable J.W. Harryman, Marshal H.D. Humphrey, Detective Harry McGinnis, Deputy Eugene Moore, Patrolman H. Murphy and Patrolman Edward Wheeler. Bonnie & Clyde were ambushed and killed by a posse of law enforcement officers on May 23, 1934.
