Description: Attempting arrest. William Cox and John Gardener, both deputized by Sheriff Cox, attempted to arrest two brothers wanted for robbery. Gardener, who died on the scene, was shot in the head, leg and back. Cox was shot in the wrist and back. He was paralyzed from the waist down and died 2 years later.
