Description: Officer Doty and Officer Phillip Trust were shot as they attempted to serve a warrant to a suspect for failure to appear in court. The Officers had allowed the suspect to get dressed when instead he retrieved a gun and shot the Officers. Officer Trust returned fire and wounded the suspect, who fled the scene. Officer Doty died of a gunshot wound to the head. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
