Description: Deputy Sheriff Dixon and Sheriff L.D. Player were shot when they responded to a domestic disturbance call where a man had shot his wife. The lawmen were shot when they entered the barricaded residence to arrest the suspect. Deputy Dixon was shot in the chest and died of his injuries seven days later. Sheriff Player recovered from his injuries. The suspect was not apprehended.
