Description: Officer Dye pursued a suspect up into a barn loft. As Officer Dye climbed down the ladder, the ladder broke. He fell and suffered a fractured femur. Despite treatment, his leg became gangrenous and was amputated. He developed an infection as a result of the gangrene and died. Officer Dye was hospitalized from the time of the incident until his death.
