Description: Sergeant Dryden died of injuries received six years prior while on motorcade duty as an escort for Governor Albert Ritchie who was returning to Maryland from the inauguration of President Roosevelt. Sergeant Dryden's motorcycle collided with a bakery truck at an intersection. His leg was crushed which resulted in frequent operations. He was placed on the department's inactive list. Infection set in and blood transfusions proved ineffective. Sergeant Dryden died of his injuries on October 7, 1938.
