Description: Sergeant Deckert suffered a fatal heart attack hours after assisting fellow officers subdue a mentally deranged and violent woman. Sergeant Deckert and a second officer carried the woman to the second floor where they forcibly restrained her until the doctor arrived with a straitjacket and administered a sedative. The officers then carried the woman downstairs and placed her in an ambulance, then carried her from the ambulance to the 9th floor ward at the hospital. Later that evening at 10:30 p.m., Sergeant Deckert was answering a call regarding a prowler when he stated that he was feeling ill and collapsed. Sergeant Deckert was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
