Description: Officer Doyle was shot in the right chest while trying to wrestle a revolver away from a woman who lived at the house where officers were trying to execute a search warrant to recover a stolen watch. Officer Doyle died on the scene. The woman was acquitted of murder. The incident was ruled an accidental shooting. Officer Doyle is the first Washington, D.C. police officer known to have died in the line of duty.
