Description: Deputy Dalton was shot and killed by horse thieves he was trailing in Cherokee country, Oklahoma. Deputy Dalton was stationed in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Deputy Dalton's brothers, former lawmen, later turned to a life of crime and became known as the Dalton Gang.
