Description: Detective Delmege was shot as he and Officer Sam Ross attempted to arrest an intoxicated man who was brandishing a shotgun in the neighborhood. The suspect shot Detective Delmege at point blank range when the officer ordered him to put down the weapon. Detective Delmege died at the scene. Officer Ross returned fire, wounding the suspect. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
