Description: Deputy Marshal Dillaway succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained while attempting to quell a riot at a railroad yard. Marshal Dillaway and fellow officers were in close proximity to the riot at a rail switch when they were attacked by the rail guards. A mix-up caused the rail guards to believe the marshals were the strikers and vice versa. One rail guard was killed and two were injured. Marshal Dillaway succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
