Description: Patrolman Dutremble was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect who was driving a stolen vehicle. Patrolman Dutremble, who was off-duty, spotted a vehicle reported as stolen. Patrolman Dutremble stepped on the running board of the automobile and instructed the motorist to drive to police headquarters. The motorist responded by shooting Patrolman Dutremble twice in the chest with a .38 revolver. Patrolman Dutremble died at the scene. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
