Description: Detective Downes and Officer Sullivan were on patrol on 18th Avenue when their car was struck by a drunk driver. The impact burst open the right hand door and both officers were thrown from the vehicle. Detective Downes was crushed under the front wheels of another car that had also been hit. The driver was charged with causing death by auto.
