Description: Deputy Sheriff Davis was stabbed as he and fellow officers attempted to quell a mob of striking miners. More than fifty deputies responded to the American Steel & Wire Company in Pittsburgh where more than 400 employees were engaged in fighting, setting fires, and firing guns in the air. Deputy Davis was fatally stabbed in the back as he attempted to arrest two of the strikers.
