Description: Attempting other arrest (excludes burglary, robbery and drug-related arrests). After completing his 3:00-11:00 PM shift at the local jail, Deputy Diamond began walking home. He was still dressed in his uniform. As he strolled home, he encountered a loud and intoxicated group of men. He warned them to lower the volume but instead an argument ensued. Deputy Diamond attempted to arrest one of the men, but a struggle occurred and the perpetrator wrestled free. Diamond gave chase, down into an alley. The perpetrator then turned on Diamond and began beating him. He also took Diamond's service weapon and shot Diamond point blank in the face. Diamond died at the scene.
