Description: Deputy Sheriff Darnell was fatally shot with his own weapon during a routine traffic stop. The driver, who admitted that he did not have a license, resisted arrest and engaged in a struggle with Deputy Darnell. The suspect gained control of Deputy Darnell's' service weapon and shot him in the back. Deputy Darnell was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
