Description: Marshal Dickson and a posse were assembled to bring order to the city on Emancipation Day. A group of citizens had been drinking and celebrating in the streets. When Marshal Dickson and his posse arrived to send everyone home and bring order to the city, gunshots rang out. Marshal Dickson was killed when buck shots struck him in the temple.
