Description: Police Officer Dempsey was struck by a train while guarding a railroad crossing at the Grand Trunk Rail yard. Officer Dempsey had been assigned to the railroad crossing to keep the peace during an incident which became known as the Stockyard Riot. Officer Dempsey was transported to the hospital where he died two days later.
