Description: Lieutenant Dechan and other officers in his department had just completed required semi-annual firearms qualifications. While cleaning his .40 caliber Sig Sauer weapon, Lieutenant Dechen's weapon discharged, striking him in the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
