Description: Patrolman Dabling was walking to his patrol car during a traffic stop when the driver emerged from his car with a sawed-off .44 Magnum rifle and shot Patrolman Dabling in the back. The suspect fled but was captured just south of Colorado Springs a short time later. Patrolman Dabling died during surgery. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment plus 16 years for robbery and burglary.
