Description: Deputy Sheriff Daniels suffered severe injuries while investigating a bootlegging suspect. When Deputy Daniels approached the suspect's car, the man grabbed the deputy by the head and sped away in excess of 50 mph. The suspect then released Deputy Daniels who struck a tree headfirst, sustained major spinal damage and was paralyzed from the neck down. Deputy Daniels was able to identify his assailant, who was on parole for theft and forgery. Deputy Daniels died of his injuries two days later.
