Description: Officer Douds suffered a fatal heart attack while he and other officers attempted to stop an inmate at the Madison Correctional Institution from killing himself. Officer Douds and another guard were successful in preventing the inmate from hanging himself, but during the struggle, Officer Douds collapsed. Officer Douds was transferred to a local hospital immediately where he died shortly after arrival.
