Description: Deputy Sheriff Derouen died from injuries sustained while attempting to subdue a suspect during a vehicle stop. Deputy Derouen was apprehending a suspect on a country road when he was struck by a passing motorist. The accident caused Deputy Derouen to lose his leg and hip and caused severe damage to his abdomen. Deputy Derouen received a disability retirement in February of 1988. Deputy Derouen died of sepsis due to his injuries on March 29, 2008.
