Description: While off-duty, Officer DeLeon was in an apartment which served as a security office at the Woodscape apartment complex for police officers to complete reports and use the facilities. When he answered a knock on the door, a man shot Officer DeLeon without provocation and fled. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. The suspect intended to commit a robbery but shot Officer DeLeon when he realized that he was a law enforcement officer.
