Description: Sheriff Day and Deputy Dahon were on patrol when they heard voices coming from an illegal gambling hall. When they entered the hall they began taking names for possible arrest when one suspect pulled a weapon and shot out the lights. Gunfire erupted throughout the hall and everyone fled the scene. When the hall was cleared and the lights were back on, Sheriff Day had been shot three times and lay dying on the floor. Deputy Dahon was injured in the gunfight.
