Description: Officer DeHerrera and Officer Victor Baca were responding to a suspicious activity call when their cruiser was hit by a car stolen by a juvenile. The patrol car hit the curb and then struck a tree. Officer Baca received minor injuries and was released from the hospital later that day. Officer DeHerrera was rushed to the hospital and died six days later. The suspect, who suffered a broken neck, was charged and found guilty of vehicular homicide, aggravated assault and auto theft.
