Description: Chief Davis, Deputy T.W. Sheffield and Sheriff J. P. McInnis were all shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect on domestic violence charges. The suspect fatally shot Chief Davis and wounded two deputies as they approached the house. The lawmen retreated. A second attempt was made and the suspect opened fire again, killing Deputy Sheffield and Sheriff McInnis. As the Albany Guard approached the residence, the suspect committed suicide.
