Description: Deputy Sheriff Deakins was shot as he attempted to serve a warrant to a murder suspect. The suspect responded by drawing his gun. Deputy Deakins killed the suspect in an exchange of gunfire. Deputy Deakins was shot in the abdomen and died of his wounds several hours later.
