Description: On September 22, 1988, Officer Devlin was injured when an unknown person discharged a tear gas canister into the ventilation system at Boston College causing the evacuation of 800 students. Five Boston College police officers were injured from chemical burns. Officer Devlin was hospitalized for 19 years and forced to retire in 2004. Officer Devlin died from the chemical injuries on April 6, 2007. Two Boston firefighters also died from injuries received that day.
