Description: Marshal DeRacy was stabbed to death as he attempted to arrest a man for vagrancy. The suspect asked Marshal DeRacy to allow him to stop by his room for a change of clothes before being taken to jail. After they entered the suspect's room, the suspect stabbed Marshal DeRacy with a 15-inch dagger. Marshal DeRacy was killed instantly.
