Description: On April 14, 1945, Patrolman Drury was shot with his own gun as he transported a naval deserter to the federal penitentiary. The prisoner gained control of Officer Drury’s service weapon and shot him in the neck at point-blank range. Officer Drury was transported to the hospital where he remained until his death two months later on June 20, 1945.
