Description: Attempting arrest. Deputy Dawkins entered a residence where an escaped convict was hiding. He was shot in the stomach by the suspect with a double barreled shotgun and died at the scene. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to be executed by hanging. However, he was fatally shot by Deputy R. Kilpatrick while attempting to escape the prison.
