Description: Police Officer East was shot and killed when he and other officers performed a welfare check on a student. When the officers entered the room of the student they discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia prompting the officers to take the student into custody. While being processed for jail, the student pulled a gun and fatally shot Officer East and fled the scene. The student was later apprehended and charged with capital murder and drug possession.
