Description: Officer Esparza was critically injured in a single-car automobile accident while responding to an officer needs assistance call. While responding, with emergency equipment activated, Officer Esparza's department vehicle hydroplaned, went off the right shoulder of the road and struck a concrete light pole. State Highway reports indicate that the weather and adverse road conditions were a major factor in this accident.
