Description: Patrolmen Evans and Horace Lane responded to a disturbance call. When the they arrived at the scene, they were fired upon by the suspect who was the source of the trouble. Patrolman Evans was shot in the chest and died of his injuries later that evening. Patrolman Lane survived. The suspect was convicted of murder and executed by hanging.
