Description: Inspector Eldredge was found dead at the entrance leading to a nature preserve with a gunshot wound through the heart. His revolver was found 400 feet away trampled in the mud. Inspector Eldredge's assailant was not captured. His brother, Game Warden G. Earle Eldredge, was killed in the line of duty 24 years earlier.
