Description: Guard Elliot was in charge of a group of 12 convicts at the Texas State Penitentiary. The convicts overpowered Guard Elliot, beat him to death with a hoe, and escaped with his shotgun and the contents of his wallet. Four of the 12 convicts were not captured. One convict was killed by a posse.
